General Hospital Spoilers: Marcus Coloma Talks Health Struggles That Cut His Nikolas Cassadine Run Short

 

General Hospital (GH) spoilers seem unclear on when fans will see Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) again in Port Charles; however, the character’s previous portrayer recently talked to Soaps.com about the health struggles he had while on the show, and why his run as Nik was cut off so quick.

GH Spoilers: Marcus Coloma Struggled With The Aftermath Of COVID-19

Most fans were completely caught off guard when news hit in early 2023 that Coloma would not be filming his final scenes with GH, and actor Adam Huss was brought in, to finish things off in the interim.

Marcus originally took a hiatus from the daytime drama due to COVID-19 but never ended up returning to the show.

Coloma tells Soap.com that COVID itself “wasn’t bad” for him. He didn’t lose his smell or taste and the normal symptoms that came with the illness lasted only a couple of days. Still, the after-effects of the virus were terrible for him, as he developed fatigue and brain fog.

This lasted a long while, where he felt as if he could not memorize his lines, but Marcus notes, this “thankfully” is gone. He shares that it’s only “just recently” that he’s back to feeling 100%, and he was shocked at how long the after-effects lasted. The good news is that he’s feeling back to his old self, and even exercising again.

 

GH Spoilers: The Disappointment Of His Nikolas Run Cut Short

Marcus states that it was disappointing not being able to “wrap up” his Nikolas stint. He compares it to someone else finishing a puzzle that you’ve worked on for a while.

Still, he completely understands why the show needed to recast Nik. As he puts it, daytime drama is fast-moving and actors need to be able to memorize pages upon pages of lines, almost overnight.

If anything is impeding this, it’s impossible to keep going. He notes the show recasting Nik (to Adam Huss) was the best thing for both his co-stars and GH fans.
