According to Page Six, Britney writes in her new book that she had gotten pregnant in late 2000, but was forced to have an abortion after her boyfriend Justin Timberlake said that he wasn’t ready for fatherhood. However Britney, who was just 18 at the time, said that while the pregnancy was a surprise, it wasn’t a tragedy and that she wanted to keep the baby.

In an excerpt that was published this week, Britney said, “I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated. But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”

She then goes on to write, “I’m sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby. I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”

Britney went on to say that the abortion was “one of the most agonizing things” she experienced in her life.

While Justin himself has not made any comments about the matter, the internet sure has. Some comments have included, “Don’t like either of them but she is equally responsible for getting pregnant and for having an abortion,” along with, “I think that’s all she wanted. A little family with Justin. He would always be the ONE. Between the paparazzi and him dumping her, embarrassing and shaming her through music was the beginning of the end for her.”

And there was this comment as well: “Imagine being Timberlake’s current wife. Men who pressure their girlfriend, mistress or wife to have an abortion will never be there for a woman when they really need them.”
