General Hospital star Laura Wright might be one of the biggest stars in daytime television, but even she deals with her online haters more often than she’s like to admit. The actress, who is best known for her role as Carly Corinthos on the hit ABC soap, recently opened up about how she deals with her online haters. Here’s what she has to say.
Unfortunately when it comes to the world of daytime television, there are fans out there who have a hard time distinguishing a character from their portrayer. And as Carly on General Hospital, Laura Wright sure does deal with that problem a lot. As much as Laura loves to interact with her fans on social media, she does admit that there are some fans out there who get a little too rude and nasty with their comments and opinions.
In an interview with Eldredge ATL, Laura explained, “I grew up watching soaps and there were times when I screamed and yelled and threw things at the TV but that was the fun of it. That passion, that excitement, that anger. I still get that way when I watch House of Dragons and all of my other shows. I love it.”
But Laura says that there are some soap fans out there who go a little too far for her liking. She hates it when some critics out there express their disdain for certain storylines and then end up going after the character’s portrayer. The actress says that it happens more often than she’d like to admit. Can’t everyone just get along both on screen and off? That’s what Laura Wright would like to know.
She added, “But I don’t attack the actors. For me, that’s a huge issue. If you have a problem with your favorites, I get it. But everyone, from writers, producers, directors, and actors, everyone is showing up and doing the best they can. Everybody”
