Meghan Markle’s next move has the state of California concerned. That’s because there are reports suggesting she wants to take Senator Feinstein’s place after she passed away last week at the age of 90. Here’s what you need to know.
According to the Daily Mail, one source close to the situation said, “Meghan is definitely a long-shot but in the craziness that is US politics these days it’s not an impossibility. Crazier things have happened.”
So, will the Duchess of Sussex become a California state senator? Many royal fans and critics alike have commented on the matter with, “Who are these sources who say she has been networking with democrats to become a senator? I believe she is left leaning but I have serious doubts about being a politician,” along with, “Politics is a choke collar. You can come in with an agenda, but there are thousands of others who also have an agenda, not to mention keeping in line with political party goals. Outside of politics. Meghan can focus on her specific causes and also work on her non-political interests.”
So far Meghan Markle herself has not made any comments about any of the rumors. However, this isn’t the first time that she’s been tipped to become an American politician. Back in 2022, Meghan hinted in her joint interview with Gloria Steinem for Vogue that her next career move might be made in D.C. While speaking out about the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade, Meghan expressed her disappointment in the matter and said, “Well, Gloria, it seems as though you and I will be taking a trip to D.C. together soon.”
Whether the Duchess of Sussex does make it to D.C. remains to be seen but it looks like the royal rota is convinced that Meghan wants to be the next president of the United States. Dan Wootton of the Daily Mail even wrote, “She’s obsessed with US politics. I think we’re (the Royal Family) now just a stepping stone to something she considers far more important and attractive.”
