General Hospital news says that this weekend should have been a very special one for Kelly Monaco that is full of fun and celebration. But instead, it has turned out to be a very quiet one. That’s because it appears as though she is refusing to celebrate her 20th anniversary on her show. As many General Hospital fans probably know by now, Kelly made her debut as Sam McCall back on October 1, 2003. Fast-forward twenty years later and things have definitely changed a lot for the actress. Here’s what you need to know.
In the latest edition of Soap Opera Digest, Kelly opened up about her character and the kind of person that Sam McCall is today. She said, “Sam came on to the canvas only having herself and her brother, always taking care of someone, and never being taken care of. I think the biggest evolution for her is starting from being a really lonely, scared woman and becoming a woman who is still really independent, but is protected by family and friends and love and relationships and loyalty, and she never had that before.”
And while Sam has been enjoying a very interesting (and even passionate relationship) with Dante Falconeri, things haven’t looked so good for Kelly in her personal life. That’s because she is still mourning the loss of someone who was very special to her in her life: her former General Hospital co-star, Billy Miller. The actor took his own life back on September 15th.
It goes without saying that Kelly might be refusing to celebrate anything this weekend because she’s still thinking about Billy. In fact, the actress is yet to make any comments about his death.
So far Kelly herself has not made any comments about her anniversary but we will definitely update you with all of the latest details as they come in. If Kelly is not going to celebrate her anniversary, you better believe that her fans will.
