Prince William and Kate Middleton are being slammed for their Black History Month plans. That’s because some people think they are acting like downright royal hypocrites. Here’s what you need to know.
Omid Scobie, who often reports about the royal family, took to his Twitter account to tell his followers, “Prince William and Princess Kate will mark the start of Britain’s #BlackHistoryMonth with a visit to Wales, where they will carry out two engagements focusing on how young people of color are creating positive change in the country.”
Apparently, the Prince and Princess of Wales will visit a local school in Wales to hear about the extensive range of opportunities that are given to students along with all of the work they have been doing for the Windrush generation.
Yet, a lot of people have pointed out that Prince William and Kate Middleton did almost nothing when Meghan Markle was being bullied by racist journalists and online trolls during her time in the UK. It goes without saying that many royal fans and critics alike have had a lot to say about the matter on social media. Some have even commented with, “Who advised them to do that? They are going to ruin the institution of Monarchy faster than anything a Republican movement or the Labour Party could do,” along with, “Come again?!!!! Kate Middleton and Prince William are gaslighting and using black people for PR while they continue to orchestrate abuse towards a woman of color who walked away from royal institution 3 years ago.”
Another critic also wrote, “Not enough and not soon enough to make a difference…the hypocrisy!! Are these people serious? When monkey photos and straight out of Compton stuff was being said about their biracial in law, they could’ve shown true allyship. They could’ve put aside all the petty personality crap and made an impact as a foursome. Such a missed opportunity.”
So far Kensington Palace has not made any additional comments about the matter.
