Victor also wanted to see if Adam was capable of behaving with good business sense, rather than like the self-centered persona so many people say he is.

Adam failed that test when going behind Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Rosales’ (Sharon Case) backs, and his plan to call the shots at the latest version of Newman Media was not realistic.

Sharon had a positive idea. She wanted to take the company Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby) left her in his will and make something good out of it.

But Adam’s antics bollixed Sharon’s intentions. His supposed love for Sharon exists in his heart. But his wacky inclinations overrode the respect he should have offered.

As for Nick, Adam claimed to be okay with his older brother watching over him. But Nick was never seen as a mentor.

Instead, Adam again disrespected the family bond Victor was hoping to use productively.

Adam does not have to work for a living because of his father’s wealth. Without Victor, Adam would likely be involved in a series of financial transactions where he tried to get one up over perceived prey.

Victor has reached the stage in his life where he recognizes that assistance is needed. Handling Adam alone, ever since Hope’s death, has been taxing.

While the Newman patriarch is still sharp, he has less energy than in his younger days. Family and legacy are increasingly important to Victor.

But Adam’s main concern remains himself on Y&R.
