She’s bold and she’s beautiful but she can also be young and she can be restless. But for the majority of the time that we saw her on the canvas, she was counting the days of our lives. Can you guess who this daytime television beauty is on the cover of Vogue Italia back from back in 1980?

Here’s the answer: it’s Days of Our Lives star Kristian Alfonso! Before she became a household name thanks to her role as Hope Brady on the hit NBC soap, Kristian was a former fashion model. She appeared on the cover of over 30 magazines, including both Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

Back in 1984, Krisitian admitted that landing her role as Hope Williams Welch on Days of Our Lives. She said, “I can shop more, but I also don’t see my family as much as I used to and I really miss them.”

In the same interview, she also opened up about her modeling career. She explained, “I never planned on any of this. I was a competitive ice skater until I crushed my leg. Until four years ago I never even went to a movie! I started modeling with Wilhemina and they brought me to New York where I began working right away. I was lucky because I wasn’t eighteen yet and I’m only 5’4½”. A lot of times they had to put me on apple boxes so I wouldn’t appear so short.”

“There’s too much freedom in modeling,” Kristian also said at the time. “I don’t think any girl should get into it unless she has someone from her family with her for the first year or so.”

Well, it’s a good thing that Kristian made the transition from modeling to acting otherwise we wouldn’t have had all of the Hope and Bo memories that we have today! Now, if only we could get another reunion between them, right?
