Prince William is being highly criticized for not supporting women – women in sports, that is. Now that Team England has reached the World Cup finals in Australia, you’d think that a huge soccer fan like Prince William would hop on the first place and fly Down Under. But apparently he doesn’t have any plans to do so as he’s currently on vacation with his wife Kate Middleton and their children. But some critics think that if it were the men playing, the Prince of Wales would be the first one to leave the country. Right? Here’s what you need to know.
Even Piers Morgan, who is one of Prince William’s staunchest defenders, did slightly criticize him for not traveling to Australia to support the Lionesses in their World Cup final. After the Prince of Wales wrote on Twitter, “What a phenomenal performance from the @Lionesses – on to the final! Commiserations to @TheMatildas, you’ve played brilliantly and been fantastic co-hosts of this World Cup,” Piers promptly replied with, “Get on a plane to Australia asap, YRH – you would if the men’s team reached a World Cup Final… so why not for the women?”
Of course, many royal fans and critics alike commented on the matter with, “He already told the FA CEO that he was busy on the day of the final before he left. I’d like him to but obviously something privately is more important,” along with, “Cos its just not down the road!, I doubt he would for the men also,carbon footprint etc etc, doubt he can do right for doing wrong,sure he ll send a personal video message and the lioness s will understand completely.”
Another critic wrote, “How can he justify flying to the other side of the world. It’s not like it’s a 3 hour flight!. It’s the middle of his kids’ holidays so no doubt spending time with them. He didn’t attend any matches in Qatar.”
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter.
