General Hospital spoilers and updates for Monday, August 14 tease plans questioned, payback assumed, and power that must be retained.
Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) wants to know what the plan is, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) assumes payback is wanted, and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) says power must be retained.
It sounds like Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) might be giving Dex a new assignment as he asks what the plan is.
He had been following Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) around, which is what led to him finding the body of Gordon Stevens (Maurice Hall).
Brick (Stephen A. Smith) then did a deep dive on Stevens and found out his connection to a trucking company once owned by the Gatlin family.
Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Gray) was a driver and Betty Rutherford (Ella Lentini) was a receptionist. Might Sonny want Dex to follow Betty now to make sure Avery Jerome-Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) stay safe?
Outside, in the aftermath of Anna’s house being torched, she talks to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and tells him someone wants her to pay for what she’s done.
The arsonist waited and watched until she was out of the house before entering-apparently Anna either left her door open or the arsonist had a key.
This sounds like a mobster “leaving a message” more than a play for revenge-obviously they want her to pay but not to die?
That doesn’t make a lot of sense considering when the shots rang out at the Metro Court those were real bullets!
Meanwhile, in Austin’s office at the hospital, a newly patched up and sutured Mason talks to Austin.
Austin’s wanted out of this so called family business since selling his properties and possibly his medical practice in Pautauk and moving to Port Charles.
Mason has been trying to force him to come back, referring to a female “head of the family” getting anxious.
More recently however, it appears the “boss” might be closer to or in Port Charles since Mason obviously is. Mason looks Austin squarely in the eye and asks why on earth would he ever let him go?
Elsewhere, Olivia Falconeri Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) appears to be frustrated with Ned Quartermaine aka Eddie Maine (Wally Kurth).
Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) asks her if she’s going to give up on Ned. No one could blame her since it’s Ned, not his alter ego Eddie who she wants, and it looks like Ned is not coming back.
She doesn’t want to find him starting more fights in bars even if he was defending her from creepy Mason.
Before the fight started in the Highsiders’ Bar that brought Eddie, Carly and Olivia to the PCPD, he’d been flirting with Carly at the bar.
Now he shows up somewhere and tells someone he wants to see them-but who is the someone? A man or a woman, is he flirting with Carly again?
Maybe he shows up and interrupts Olivia and Dante’s discussion. Olivia might be on the verge of a hard pass because she doesn’t want Eddie, she wants Ned!
Carly is finally home in her kitchen after Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) obviously found her mom needed to be signed out from the police station.
It sounds like Josslyn is blaming the mess on Sonny and his organized crime ties, as Carly emotionally explains if Sonny loses his power then they are no longer safe.
This is quite true, because if Sonny loses power then other rival mob families will take over Port Charles or come to Port Charles to take his territory over.
In other words, there will be another mob war like when Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) first came to Port Charles. Surely Josslyn doesn’t want that!
Elsewhere, a rather scary Sonny lays a trap, possibly for Mason or Betty-he tells someone plans have changed. He could be talking to Dex and giving him his new assignment.
It sounds like Sonny might be giving Dex his first actual enforcer job, which might involve taking someone out.
Or he might just be coordinating to trap whoever the intended target is, but it’s likely to be Mason, or possibly Betty. He told Ava Jerome (Maura West) he had his men tailing Betty and Avery would be safe.
