Judge Scott referenced how hard it must have been for Finn to see his mother in her predicament. That bit of dialogue Corbett’s character offered was also a projection of what recently developed.

Finn told Sheila that he felt like their hug represented what he was missing his entire life. The second hug she gave him, after the judge cleared her of murder charges, furthered what appears to be a new space in Finn’s life.

But Finn also knows that he and his wife refused to testify against Sheila for the detestable acts she committed against them in the alley behind Il Giardino.

Sheila and Bill threatened to turn Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) into the authorities for the actions she took. Devoted fans recall that Li was on call the night Finn was rushed to the hospital after Sheila inadvertently shot him while first trying to shoot Steffy.

Li claimed Finn died and signed a fraudulent death certificate. Then she cared for him at a remote location, keeping his existence secret from everyone until Sheila located and attempted to kill her.

Steffy did not feel she could go against the threat that was made, siding with her husband in defense of the woman who raised him as her own.

The judge performed logical gymnastics when claiming that Bill’s ties to the federal authorities clouded the case against Sheila. That subjective decision can surely be challenged in a different court.

Bill was wronged because he sacrificed himself in defense of protecting various families and society from Sheila. Yet, she realized another escape from justice on B&B.
