Is passing along your book to the next hotel room occupant the latest trend? That’s what a lot of fans seem to be asking as there’s a new report that says Prince Harry’s book Spare is the most ‘dumped’ book by tourists this summer. Here’s what you need to know.

Readers Are Leaving Prince Harry’s ‘Spare’ In Hotel Rooms For This Reason

According to tour operator On The Beach, Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare, is the number one book that has been left in hotel rooms this holiday season. Apparently, people are leaving the book in their hotel rooms for other people to leave. It’s gotten so bad that some tour operators are giving away discarded copies online because they have bookshelves full of the memoir available now.

One source close to the situation even said, “We’ve never witnessed anything quite like it. Lost property offices in our most popular resorts are brimming with copies of Spare. We thought it was funny at first but, over the past few months, several other hotels have been sending the books back.”

The tipster continued, “Maybe we should all take a leaf out of Harry’s book and spare ourselves the bother in the first place.”

Of course, many royal fans have commented on this matter with, “I always leave books I read while on vacation at the hotel or Airbnb where I stay. I always leave a note in the books asking the other guests to pass it on to the next person if they enjoyed reading it,” along with, “Spare is not a textbook.  We got to read the truth and that’s okay to pass on.  There’s a Bible in the drawer in your hotel room so Spare can be a wonderful coffee table read.”

Another fan wrote, “It doesn’t matter if people leave his book, Prince Harry is still getting paid. They are making controversy out of nothing as always. I read mine in 2 days, then posted it to a Twitter friend in Glasgow, who then passed it on.”

So far Prince Harry himself has not made any comments about the matter.
