It’s safe to say that it’s been quite an eventful year for Days of Our Lives star Camila Banus. The actress, who is best known for her role as Gabi DiMera, announced that she was leaving the show. That, and there have been some changes in her personal life, too. Here’s what you need to know about everything that has been going on with the stunning brunette so far this year.

Back in May, Camila released a statement about her departure. She said, “There’s definitely been a lot of changes at DAYS the last couple of years, one being moving to Peacock. Although it’s been wonderful and we’ve had a super great reception, for me, I felt like that was kind of like the initial start for changes happening in general. And I kind of just saw that as a sign for me to start the next chapter in my life.” 

Camila also explained the real reason behind her departure, and she says it all has to do with her dad. He passed away shorlty before she began her soap opera career. In an essay for The Today Show, Camilla opened up about starting a new chapter in her life with the soap when she was just 19. She wrote at the time, “Soon into my time on ‘Days of Our Lives,’ I got the news no one ever wants to receive. I was in the parking lot of a dollar store with my mom, who was on the phone, when she started screaming. On the other line, she learned my dad, her ex-husband, had died by suicide.”

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: What’s Next For Camila?

She continued, “Days was undeniably a dream job. But I hope it’s the first of many dream jobs. I want to leave a legacy for my family, honoring the sacrifices that my Cuban immigrant parents made for me so that I could pursue those dreams.”
