Sometimes they look like they are the best of friends while other times they look like they could also be the worst of enemies. Of course, we are talking about Kate Middleton and her mother-in-law, Camilla Parker Bowles. Here’s where their relationship stands right now.
There’s been speculation that Camilla has been meddling too much in Kate’s life. One source close to the situation even said, “Camilla has gone from helping Kate adjust to being a royal to meddling in her life. She wants to be looped in on official emails and included in their Zoom calls with royal aides. She’s even had quiet words with Kate’s staff regarding keeping her in the loop about her and William’s schedules.”
It’s also been reported that Camilla gave advice to Kate about her husband, Prince William. According to royal author Robert Lacey, the Queen of England knows what she’s talking about when it comes to royal men. Lacey wrote in his book, “Camilla had confided to Kate the secret of hanging on to a busy prince: fit your timetable – well, basically your whole life – around his.”
And at one point, it also seems like Camilla was Kate’s closest ally in the royal family. Royal expert and author Jordon-Lee Squibb told Entertainment Daily in a new interview, “The Duchess of Cornwall and Duchess of Cambridge have formed a close bond over the last ten years – and the latest portrait shows their closeness. Birthday photos are important for the Royal Family. They offer a rare chance for the public to see a more relaxed and informal photo of the royal, and they are also a historical reference for future generations.”
He also added, “The portrait shows the Duchess of Cornwall smiling and at ease as she marks her 75th birthday. I’m sure having a familiar face behind the camera helped. Kate, who is patron of the Royal Photographic Society, is a passionate photographer and has been behind the camera for many of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis‘ birthday photos.”
