General Hospital Spoilers: Ned’s Entanglement with Dissociative Identity Disorder Leaves Olivia’s Marriage in Purgatory

General Hospital spoilers tease Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) is on a long term hiatus from reality, and his alter ego — Eddie Maine — has checked in. Having exited the scene in the mid-nineties, no one ever expected to hear that name again, much less to see Ned introduce himself as such.

Everything was looking up when Ned came out of twilight sleep and knew basic facts, like what year it was and where he was. But no one saw a struggle with a split personality on the horizon. Soon, Ned will be released from the hospital, and he’ll have to contend with the belief that he is someone who doesn’t exist. Likewise, so will his family. Where is this going to leave his marriage to Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero)?

General Hospital Spoilers — Ned’s Condition Could Get Better…in Time

Olivia is still reeling from the news that her husband doesn’t even recognize her. Hearing him say she isn’t his wife was heart wrenching for Olivia, but not nearly as bad as watching the words roll off of his lips like a cruel joke. Although the Quartermaine family will rally around her with support, and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) will surely relate to her — since her father doesn’t remember her either — Olivia is going to feel like she’s on a bit of an island. This is her first time meeting “Eddie,” and there are bound to be bumps in the road ahead.

GH Spoilers Leak Olivia is Beside Herself with Grief

From the looks of it, GH super fans are here for this storyline. They’ve been itching for a throwback and love the idea of revisiting Eddie’s musical career and personality. That being said, Olivia was already overemoting at the hospital and now she’s going to be a hot mess back at the Q mansion. Some of us aren’t looking forward to months of smeared mascara and Olivia praying — rosary in hand, but some fans are theorizing this could make for a hot reboot for this couple. Olivia might miss her husband, but she could find herself drawn to his new persona in a whole new way, given time. Of course, that is all dependent upon Eddie sticking around. After all, he doesn’t recognize any of the ties that bind him.

General Hospital Spoilers — Brook Lynn Works Her Magic

When Eddie makes like his own personality and decides to split — the family will panic. He can’t very well leave Port Charles in the dust and proceed with life as though none of them exist — can he? The family could have him committed against his will, but they know a stint at Shady Brook could leave Ned even further from his senses.

When the Q’s agree that the best way to get Ned back is to immerse him in his normal family life, Brook Lynn might bargain with Eddie by convincing him to stay in Port Chuck and work on a new demo with her — his new agent. This could buy Olivia facetime to help Eddie familiarize himself with her in hopes that his split personality issues will soon resolve. In the meantime, do we smell a Lois and Ned reboot on the horizon with Brook Lynn stepping into her mama’s shoes? We sure do!
