Meghan Markle Looks Absolutely Miserable After Losing Spotify Contract

It looks like Meghan Markle is going to have to work extra hard to try and reinvent herself and her Sussex brand because things aren’t looking very good for her right now. In fact, soon after it was announced that Meghan and Prince Harry lost their $20 million dollar contract after Spotify decided to dump them and kick them out in the cold, Meghan looked absolutely miserable after she was spotted out and about in Los Angeles. Here’s what you need to know.

According to new reports, Meghan is being called the “downcast duchess” after she was spotted going makeup-free in public for the first time since her Spotify podcast deal ended. As many fans know, the Duchess of Sussex only managed to produce one season of her Archetypes in the three years that she was on contract with the online streamer. To make things even worse, Spotify’s head of innovation even called her and Harry “f**ing grifters,” suggesting that they were too lazy and entitled to work. 

But Bill Simmons, Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetization, put it this way, “The f***ing grifters. That’s the podcast we should have launched with them. I’ve got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”

Yikes! If that weren’t enough, earlier this year Simmons blasted the Duke of Sussex, saying that it was embarrassing to be affiliated with the same company.

Clearly, this wasn’t the kind of news that Meghan was expecting. She believed that she was really putting in some groundbreaking work as a trailblazing feminist with her Archetypes podcast. She even had some big A-list names like Mariah Carey and Paris Hilton join her as guests for her episodes. But it wasn’t enough for Spotify to keep the Sussexes on their payroll as they were enthusiastically dumped by the company. Now, whether or not Archetypes manages to find another platform in the future, remains to be seen. For now, Meghan certainly has a lot of work ahead of her.
