General Hospital Spoilers: Michael is Prepared to Protect His Father — But Does He Really Want Dex’s Help?

General Hospital spoilers indicate Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) was all ears when his mom, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), proposed a new plan of action. She didn’t hesitate to ask Michael to go out on a limb and continue paying Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) to be Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) right-hand man. In fact, it seemed as though Carly was telling Michael what he had to do more so than asking him for a favor. Never mind the fact that her son is currently bouncing back from his wife’s year-long battle with leukemia, nor that he isn’t a big fan of his father’s to begin with. Now he’s supposed to be charged with protecting the mobster? Make it make sense!

General Hospital Spoilers — Michael Loves the Mob?

As luck would have it, Michael seems to be chomping at the bit to help his old man out, although Sonny won’t have any clue he’s doing so. Is Michael’s eagerness rooted in a desire to oust Sonny for his own organization still, or does he actually want to help ease his own guilt? Word on the street is it’s more of the latter, combined with a desire to get close to his father again. But wait, that’s Dex’s job. Dex will keep an eye on Sonny while Michael tells him which moves to make. That’s all fine and well but it keeps Dex between father and son when Michael is really longing to be the guy at Sonny’s helm. This is a major reverse course from anything Michael has ever wanted for his life. Did the last year of playing a master of espionage wet his appetite for mob life? It seems like he may not be able to turn it off now.

GH Spoilers Leak Dex is in the Way

When Carly first approached Michael with her plan, he thought Dex might not be down for it. After all, Joss has a lot of influence over him and Michael knows she just wants him out of the mob. Was that just Michael’s wishful thinking? Was he hoping Dex wouldn’t want to be a part of this, and that he might be able to fill Dex’s shoes for his dad? In reality, Dex has cozied up to Sonny well, and Michael could be a bit jealous. In hindsight, maybe he hasn’t been angry as much as he has felt neglected and unloved. After all, Sonny did a real number on his son and the rest of his family by coming back from Nixon Falls and jumping into bed with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). Has Michael finally healed those wounds enough to want to be his father’s son again?

General Hospital Spoilers — Is Michael the Future Jason 2.0?

It’s also possible that Michael longs to be more than just his father’s son. Maybe he wants to be Sonny’s best friend. His closest companion. His Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Carly asserted that Michael knows the business well enough to guide Dex on how to operate. Does he though? When did he scoop up that hands-on training?
