Did Princess Diana lose custody of her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, during her nasty divorce battle with Prince Charles? That’s what a lot of royal fans can’t help but wonder as there are new reports suggesting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on the brink of divorce as well. And while royal divorces are always full of bitter emotions and nasty jealousy, Princess Diana did have it a little easier in her divorce from Charles than Harry will with Meghan. That’s because unlike the Duke of Sussex, she never left the UK. 

Reports also indicate that Charles and Diana agreed to joint custody of their sons, William and Harry. While it certainly was the divorce of the century, Charles and Diana did manage to keep things equal in one way. They were both given joint custody, and that’s mostly because they wanted their sons to attend boarding school at the same time. That, and they also didn’t want their daily lives disrupted by the divorce.

Now, as far as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are concerned, their situation is a little trickier. That’s because the royal couple currently reside in California. Should Harry decide to walk away from his marriage to Meghan, there’s a very good chance that he might bring Archie and Lilibet back to the UK. After all, it’s the reigning monarch, King Charles, who has custody of all the children in the royal family. While there’s no doubt that Meghan is going to fight to keep her kids in California, the royal family will argue that Archie in particular is in the line of succession. So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter.
