Days of Our Lives spoilers say that it’s a role that she had for years and once that she certainly made her own. Yet, Camila Banus, who is best known to fans as Gabi DiMera, is leaving the show. And while many DOOL fans have certainly been left quite disappointed over the news as Camila sure did a great job with the role, the actress recently opened up about the real reason why she quit the soap. Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Camila explained her reason for leaving Days of Our Lives. She admits that it was definitely a bittersweet decision to make on her end. She put it this way, “I think I’m at a time in my life where personally, it’s a good time for me to step away and just take a reset. It’s going to be hard for me to let go of Gabi in that sense. But I think with soaps and the way we work, it’s never always a sure good-bye.”

She continued, “So, you never know what the cards hold for Gabi or Stefan, and I think this will add another dynamic to Stabi and Stefan. I think this is going to be a really interesting time for how he deals now with her being gone. So, it’s going to be exciting.”

What’s Next For Camilla Banus?

Actor Brandon Barash, who plays Stefan DiMera on the hit Peacock soap, also added in the same interview, “I am, of course, bummed out that I’m losing such a great scene partner, but I’m excited for Camilla and whatever this next phase of her life brings. It’s really a beautiful thing when you see an actor say, ‘You know what, this is what I want,’ and they go out and they do it. As far as Stefan goes, absolutely. It’s funny that whenever I would go through a breakup in real life, there was an initial moment of ‘this really sucks.’ But it was always followed up with, ‘I’m really excited to go into the unknown.”
