The daytime television world is in shock this morning. That’s because there are new reports that say General Hospital star Jacklyn Zeman, who was best known for her role as Bobbie Spencer, has passed away. She was 70 years old. Here’s what you need to know.
General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini made the announcement on Twitter. He wrote, “On behalf of our @GeneralHospital family, I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved @JackieZeman. Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work. Jackie will be greatly missed, but her positive spirit will always live on with our cast and crew. We send our heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones, friends, and family, especially her daughters Cassidy and Lacey.”
Of course, many General Hospital fans took to their social media accounts to share their grief and condolences with Jackie’s family. Some comments included, “I am absolutely shocked and saddened by this, especially since we just saw her at the wedding and she must have been feeling bad while taping it. I’m curious what they will do with the character seeing as the writers are currently on strike and they probably have story written for a few months ahead,” along with, “I’m absolutely stunned! Bobbie has been one of my favorites since I started watching in 1979. I watched Bobbie grow from a schemer to having a heart of gold (hated that they have used her mostly to prop Carly the past years). She was truly one of our last vets.”
Another fan wrote, “I am so in shock. I’m at a loss for words. RIP, Jackie. Thank you for giving us so many wonderful years and stories… BJ’s heart story is THE gold standard for a well-written tearjerker, and your story with Sarah Brown is what got me hooked on GH for the very first time. You will be sorely missed by SO many.”
