Americans Criticize King Charles’ Coronation – Most Boring Royal Ceremony?

Royal Family News says that even Lionel Richie couldn’t save this mess. Apparently, there were a lot of Americans who were tuning out rather than tuning in to King Charles’ Coronation ceremony this past weekend. That’s because the majority of people believe that all of the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal family have gotten a little boring, if not also outdated. Here’s what you need to know.

Americans Criticize King Charles’ Coronation – Most Boring Royal Ceremony?

While there was a lot of coverage on who was at the ceremony and who wasn’t at the ceremony, it seems like the majority of Americans – with Meghan Markle probably included – decided to tune out altogether. For Charles, that is bad news as he’s been having trouble following in the footsteps of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth, as it is. 

Needless to say, many royal fans and critics alike sure did have a lot to say about the matter on social media. Some commented with, “In the aftermath of the spectacle, it really disappoints. What has Charles been doing to deserve all this? Queen Elizabeth was alive forever and one just assumes something of worthile was done during their lineage to be bestowed so much privilege and power. But we know these current guys so why are these people wearing millions of dollars worth of diamonds on their heads?”

What’s Next For King Charles And The Monarchy?

Another critic wrote, “I watched some the coronation, and I forgot how tied up in religion these things are. The ceremony felt more religious than Christmas and Easter combined. The coronation is basically an Anglican high mass. I don’t care how many other different religious types you shove in there. It’s still an Anglican mass on steroids.”

And then there was this comment as well: “This was a bore. But I read Tina Brown’s book and she had an interesting theory. She said after Elizabeth died, the country would feel shaken for a while and people wouldn’t be ready for another long-reigning monarch. Charles taking over now gives Will time to spend with his offspring in their formative years, the country time to recover from losing Liz. He’s like a short-term, transitional king.”
