There’s a new report that suggests King Charles was supposedly bullied into hiding his ‘sausage’ fingers in his new portrait ahead of his coronation this weekend. Just recently, Buckingham Palace released a new photo of King Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles on The Royal Family Instagram account. Almost immediately, both fans and followers noticed that while Camilla’s hands were visible, King Charles’ hands were clasped behind his back. This has prompted a lot of people to wonder if the King of England was bullied into hiding his fingers by someone on his staff. While it hasn’t been confirmed, a lot of social media users do think that it’s a possibility.

Some people commented on the matter with, “I can’t believe Twitter has bullied the literal King into never showing his hands,” along with, “I want to abolish the monarchy but I do still feel bad that we have gang bullied a grown man into never showing his hands again.”

While King Charles himself has never spoken about his very swollen hands, Dr Gareth Nye suggests that the King might be suffering from oedema. He put it this way in an interview with the Daily Star, “King Charles has always been known to have large fingers and previous suggestions for the possible causes away from his individual anatomy included oedema which is where fluid leaks out of the blood and stays within the tissues nearby leading to a swollen appearance.”

He continued, “Although King Charles’s fingers are swollen, I do not feel that in this case oedema is the [the correct diagnosis] due to the length of time they have been like this in addition to the apparent worsening of the situation.”
