He certainly has a reason to celebrate! General Hospital star Nicholas Chavez recently opened up about his Daytime Television Emmy nomination for Supporting Actor. As many fans can recall, he won the Outstanding Younger Performer category last year for his role as Spencer Cassadine. Keep reading below for everything you need to know!
Nicholas took to his Twitter account to say, “Well, this is definitely going to take me some time to process. But first thoughts, I just want to say thank you so much to everyone and… wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Thank you. This is a very cool experience and a massive honor and congratulations to every single person who is nominated alongside me. This really, really means a lot. And, as always, let’s go, GH! Thanks, guys!”
Back in 2022, Nicholas did open up about how difficult it was to step into someone else’s shoes as a recast on the show. In an interview with People, he said, “Some of the fans didn’t like me at first because I’m a recast. There was an actor [Nicolas Bechtel] who played my character before me. You know I was a bit green at first. I think people were seeing that. So online, people would be like, ‘I like the old actor who played Spencer better.’ I’ve seen him work and he’s a great actor. Very, very charismatic.”
Nicholas added, “Some of the comments were sorta getting to me. [My costars] were like, ‘Dude, just give it some time, give it some time let them get used to you,’ you know, ‘Don’t think too hard about it.’”
That said, Nicholas admits that the General Hospital fans have opened up and “are great now. Now, it’s like fun to go online. It’s like rave reviews every time.”
