When it comes to the daytime television world, it’s safe to say that you are never really gone, even if that last nail is hammered into your coffin. And if there’s anyone who knows this all too well, it’s General Hospital actress Emma Samms. She is coming back to reprise her role as Holly and just in time to safeguard her son Ethan and bring her former captor Victor Cassadine to justice. According to the latest edition of Soap Opera Digest, Emma makes it no secret that it’s wonderful to be back, even though she’s had to make the trip from her home in the Cotswold in England all the way back to Los Angeles. And while the last time she was on the canvas was just six months ago, Emma tells the publication, “We had sort of touched on the subject of another return. Frank Valentini and I had spoken about the practicalities of it. I’m very lucky that my husband Simon is able to come back with me and do some work from here, that he has that flexible schedule.”
She continued, “That has made all the difference, really. We were thinking, ‘Oh, it would be nice to get a bit of sunshine,’ but we got here and there was a tornado and more rain than L.A. had see for 100 years or something! So we felt right at home. It’s been very interesting weather, but of course, most of the time, I’ve been inside the studio with no windows anyway! So it doesn’t make any difference.”
Emma also added that her positive experience from before has managed to help ease her nerves this time around. She said, “That definitely helped in a couple of ways. One is that you do wonder if, both for health reasons and for age-related reasons, are you going to be able to cope with that amount of memorization and the face-paced schedule? Even though it did take me quite some time to recover from my last stint, I did keep up the pace.”
