Is Meghan Markle refusing to go to King Charles’ coronation to protect her mental health? That seems to be the case as a lot of fans can’t help but wonder why the Duchess of Sussex is sitting this one out. It might be because she doesn’t want to deal with all of the stress that will come with having to see many members of the royal family face to face. Here’s what you need to know.
It seems like there are plenty of people behind closed palace doors who want to blame Meghan Markle for the ongoing feud between Harry and his family members. That might be one of the many reasons why she doesn’t want to go to the coronation. After all, Kate Middleton did say that one of the hardest things she’s ever had to do was the Windsor walkabout with Harry and Meghan shortly after Queen Elizabeth had died back in September. You could the tension with a knife that day, as it was that visible.
As many royal fans know by now, Prince Harry will be joining the rest of the royal family to celebrate King Charles’ Coronation on May 6th without his wife Meghan Markle by his side. A spokesperson for the Sussexes released a statement that said, “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”
Of course, many royal fans and critics alike do have a lot to say about the matter on social media. Some have commented with, “All that vileness from his family and the awful media I am glad she is protecting her mental health. This shows me that he is weak. I know those people meaning his family are glad she and her mixed race children won’t be there,” along with, “Very surprised and sad that she will not be there to support Harry. Her absence has nothing to do with Archie’s birthday. I feel that Meghan is protecting her mental health. The real story will soon emerge. What a missed opportunity for Charles to show love towards his son and grandchildren.”
Another critic wrote, “I think it seems that way, but I think its more about the children (if they don’t want to drag the children over for such a short trip and they want a parent with Archie on his bday) and Meghan’s mental health. It’s Harry’s family, he’s going to go, deal with the fallout, and then leave.”
