Report: Meghan Markle Is Protecting Archie And Lilibet From Racism In The UK

So this might be the real reason why Meghan Markle has decided to stay back home in California rather than fly to London with Prince Harry for King Charles’ Coronation next month. There’s a new report that suggests the Duchess of Sussex is simply trying to protect her two children, Archie and Lilibet, from all of the racism that she herself had endured while she was still in the UK. That’s why she doesn’t want to be in the UK with her children right now. Here’s what you need to know.

Royal commentator and expert Gertrude Daly of Gert’s Royals thinks that Meghan Markle is worried that she’ll have to deal with a lot of racist attacks should she ever step foot again in the UK. And now that she is one of the least popular royals in the monarchy, she believes that all of the hatred towards her has just gotten worse.

Gert says, “It has been obvious over the last two years that the Sussexes don’t have a good relationship with the Royal Family. The news that just Prince Harry will be attending the coronation is not a surprise to anyone. Prince Harry’s attendance is more out of obligation rather than anything else.”

She continued, “Duchess Meghan was invited to the Coronation. And Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, while a little young for the ceremony, would have been welcomed to come to the UK and visit with the Royal Family. It would have been the Sussexes’ decision to just send Prince Harry. I think The Sussexes want to protect themselves and their children from the ‘vicious and racist’ UK media as much as possible.”

What’s Next For Meghan Markle?

During their Netflix series Harry and Meghan, the Sussexes talked about some of the racism that the duchess had endured during her time in the UK and also detailed some of  Britain’s colonist history. Harry also said that his family told him that Meghan’s bruising press coverage “was almost like a rite of passage.”

Harry said that he was told, “My wife had to go through that, so why should your girlfriend be treated any differently? Why should you get special treatment? Why should she be protected?’…I said, ‘The difference here is the race element.'”
