For a lot of fans, she is one of the most beautiful daytime television stars out there but believe it or not, she’s also been bullied for her looks. The Young and the Restless actress Susan Walters, who is best known for her role as Diane Jenkins on the hit CBS soap, admits that a lot of trolls have bullied her for her looks on Twitter. And yes, some of the comments were downright mean. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Speaking to TVNewsCheck in a new interview, Susan admits that when she was on The Young and the Restless before, there was no social media which meant that viewers didn’t have a platform to express their likes and dislikes about the show like they do now. And while there are certainly a lot of pros and cons to social media outlets like Twitter, she never expected to get attacked for her looks in the way that she recently did.
Susan puts it this way, “There wasn’t Twitter when I was on the show before. “So I made the mistake of going on Twitter after I came back to the show. And I’m thinking, Diane’s gotten older, Susan’s gotten older, and it will be very empowering for people to see that I’ve aged.”
She continued, “It wasn’t pretty at all. I was really blown away by how… nasty people were about the way me, Susan, looked. And now that the character of Diane has taken off and they’ve been reintroduced to Diane, now comments would be about Diane if I was still looking at Twitter, which of course, I never do. It’s not healthy for me.”
Thankfully, Susan added that she tries to not let it get the best of her. The actress added, “So to constantly be worrying about the result. which is written about on social media, doesn’t serve me as an actor at all. And especially if people are discussing negative things about the way they think you look. That really doesn’t do me any good.”
