We sure didn’t expect to see this from her. Royal Family News says that if there’s anything we’ve learned about Kate Middleton over the years, it’s that she’s someone who always abides by all of the royal rules and strict royal protocols. She never steps out of line, especially when it comes to how she conducts herself in her public appearances. That’s probably why there are a lot of fans who are quite shocked to see that she actually broke a royal tradition during this past weekend. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
According to Page Six, some eagle-eyed fans noticed that the Princess of Wales was wearing what looked like red nail polish during her Easter outing with the rest of the royal family. This is the first time she’s ever worn red on her fingernails since she married Prince William back in 2011.
While there are no official rules (or even an official rule book) when it comes to what the royals can or cannot wear, it’s always been said that Queen Elizabeth preferred more neutral colors herself and that she expected the same from others. In fact, one of her favorite colors was Essie’s pale pink Ballet Slippers polish, which Meghan Markle is known to have worn as well. The Duchess of Sussex also made headlines when she wore black nail polish back in 2019 when she was pregnant with her son Archie.
Now, as far as why Kate Middleton became a rebel with her royal red this past weekend, no one really knows. But it does seem like she’s trying to send a message to all of the royal critics out there and that message might be that she really doesn’t care what people think of her nail polish colors anymore. Then again, that shouldn’t really surprise anyone. After all, she is one step closer to becoming the next Queen of England, right? Watch this space as we have a feeling that more red is to come.
