General Hospital star Tabyana Ali recently opened up about her character Trina’s biracial relationship with her on-screen partner, Spencer Cassadine. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Speaking to the Associated Press in a new interview, the talented young actress was asked about Trina’s relationship with Spencer Cassadine. She said that it’s high time that the daytime television world had a biracial couple like them. Ok, she maybe didn’t put it that way, but it’s a sentiment that everyone is certainly sharing about the couple. Tabyana said, “We’re in 2023 and it should start being like its a thing that happens. Because it’s not an everyday thing that happens or I mean, it’s starting to be, but there’s still hesitation within it, (so) it needs to be told. It’s a story that needs to be represented right.”
Tabyana then said, “I didn’t realize, though that the people that are in interracial relationships, this means a lot for them. They feel very seen. They feel like it’s important for them and it is important, you know, and you can even see it in today’s commercials in like some sort of movies and shows how they’re starting to get that representation.”
Back in March, Tabyana did open up about that kiss Trina and Spencer shared that everyone just couldn’t stop talking about. Speaking about how she and her co-star Nicholas Chavez prepped for it, she said, “We actually took a lot of time, me and him. We got together and we broke that script down and ran it a thousand times. We tried to learn the ins and outs of of it and put all the pieces together. We took this very, very seriously! I mean, obviously we always take our work very seriously, but we were like, ‘This is on another level.’ We wanted it to be just right. We wanted it to be spectacular.”
