The Young and the Restless fans all can’t help but wonder if it’s time for a younger version of Victor Newman to make his way onto the canvas. In other words, some fans think it would be a great idea for Eric Braeden’s son Christian Gudegast to join the show! Some viewers think Christian could play Victor Newman in flashback scenes for the show. Here’s what you need to know as it looks like Eric himself has the answer.
Eric recently shared a photo with his one and only son on his Twitter account along with his youngest granddaughter, too. The photo certainly got a lot of people talking. Of course, many of Eric’s fans couldn’t help but comment on the photo and suggest that Christian would be a great addition to the cast of The Young and the Restless. Some comments included, “Need to get Christian on Y/R! He’s got the looks! He could play your long lost separated at birth son and really shake things up at Newman!!!”
Interestingly enough, Eric himself responded to the comment by saying, “He’ll never do it! Bill Bell offered that to him and Christian politely turned it down , saying to me I had always told him to follow his dream, and his dream has ALWAYS been to write and direct!!”
Now, as far as why Christian’s last name is Gudegast and not Braeden like his father’s, there’s a reason behind it. Believe it or not, Eric’s real name is Hans-Jorg Gudegast. The actor changed his name to make things a little easier on him before he began his career in Hollywood. Eric later explained that he adapted his last name in tribute to the town that he grew up in: Bredenbeck, Germany.
There’s always a chance that Christian could chance his mind, right? That said, The Young and the Restless fans will simply have to tune in each and every day to find out what will happen next!
