Prince William And Kate Middleton Refused To Attend Lilibet’s Christening Even Though They Were Invited

Could it be that they had something else on the schedule? Maybe. Royal Family News says that Prince William, Kate Middleton and the rest of the high-ranking royals refused to attend Lilibet’s christening even though they received an invite from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

According to People magazine, no one from Harry’s side of the family showed up to Princess Lilibet’s christening last Friday in California. However, the publication says that there were about 20 to 30 guests that were there, including Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, Lilibet’s godfather, Tyler Perry and other close friends of the royal couple. 

“I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3, by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev. John Taylor,” a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed to the press.

Now, why King Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, and the Prince and Princess of Wales were not there could be anyone’s guess, but seeing how Harry and Meghan have aired out the royal family’s dirty laundry in their Netflix docuseries and in Harry’s book, Spare, it’s understandable why they wouldn’t want to be there. Still, even when the royals were at Archie’s christening back in 2019, a lot of people could notice the tension that was in the room between William and Kate and Harry and Meghan. William and Kate looked like they wanted to be anywhere but at the christening, even though it was the right thing to do at the time.

So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter but at this point, it’s doubtful they will say anything. Everyone is still holding their breath on whether or not Harry and Meghan will show up at King Charles’ Coronation in May. The couple have received their official invite but are yet to say anything about their future travel plans. Some people have already speculated that Harry might go without Meghan.
