She’s certainly come a long way, baby. General Hospital star Genie Francis (Laura Spencer) is celebrating two very special milestones this year. Not only is the hit ABC soap in its 60th year, but the talented actress is also celebrating her 25th year on General Hospital, too. Genie recently opened up about all of the good, the bad, and the most memorable, and admitted that she’s finally in a place where she is feeling both fabulous and inclusive about her life, both on and off screen. That, and she also opened up about getting a special gift from Princess Diana! Here’s what she has to say.

Speaking to People Magazine in a new interview, Genie opened up about her character’s growth and how she’s been celebrating General Hospital’s big anniversary. She said, “I just want it to be fabulous and wonderful and inclusive — get it the love it deserves.”

Not only that, but Genie also recalled a very special gift she once got from a very special person. She said, “Somebody said, ‘This is from the Right Honorable Lady Diana Spencer, and we wanted you to know.’ But they didn’t give me the champagne because I was underage.”

General Hospital News: What’s Next For Laura Spencer?

Genie also opened up about how much Laura has changed over the years and how she’s grown into her role as the mayor of Port Charles. Genie said, “Her motherly instincts are directed more toward the town now. Young Laura was desperately looking for love and to be loved. Older Laura is looking to give love — as it should be.”

We have a feeling that we will be seeing much more of Laura Spencer on the canvas in the weeks and months ahead. After all, Port Charles certainly would be a different place without her, right?
