Oprah Winfrey recently had a big birthday bash and of course, a lot of people couldn’t help but wonder why Meghan Markle wasn’t there for the celebration. Well, there seems to be a legitimate reason why the Duchess of Sussex was nowhere to be seen, as Oprah’s birthday wasn’t actually a party that the television personality threw herself. Here’s what you need to know.
Soon after the media suggested that Meghan had become persona non grata in Oprah’s circle of celebrity friends, it was clarified that her birthday bash wasn’t actually a birthday bash. Instead, it happened to be a 25th anniversary party for Anastasia cosmetics. And because Oprah happened to be there, the cosmetics company presented her with a cake to help kick-off her 69th birthday. The only reason why Meghan Markle was not there was simply because she wasn’t invited to the makeup party and not Oprah’s actual party.
Needless to say, some people took to Twitter to write comments such as, “Just to clarify this is NOT Oprah’s bday but rather a 25 year Anastasia event… a makeup brand in Beverly Hills,” along with, “Oprah did not throw this party for herself. This was an event she attended for a beauty line, and they honored her in presenting her with a bday cake. Before people start spreading misinformation, they should really do some research.”
With that said, both Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry have gotten pretty close to Oprah and ever since they made their big move from London to California. Back in March 2021, the royal couple made waves for their bombshell of an interview with Oprah, in which they suggested that there was a ‘royal racist’ behind closed doors at Buckingham Palace.
