The Young and the Restless star Michael Mealor (the one and only Kyle Abbott) admits that he was scared to work with his on-screen son Kellen Enriquez for this reason. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Michael admits that one of the reasons why he was so nervous about working with Kellen was mostly because he doesn’t have that much experience working with children. He put it this way to the publication, “I hadn’t been around children that much, so I just wasn’t that great at interacting with Kellen. I have a nephew and niece who are around his age but they live out of state and I haven’t been able to spend a lot of time with them because of COVID, so I just didn’t have that paternal thing down pat yet.”
That said, Michael added that he and his co-star are getting along quite swimmingly now. He shared, we are definitely more familiar with each other. He’s a goofy guy and a ball of energy, so he keeps you on your toes. During the holidays, there were toys around, so he was always carrying one with him and I think the world to him is a toy. The more scenes we are in, the more we get used to each other and now we are in a really good place. He’s a great 6-year-old.”
There’s no doubt that Michael loves spending time with Kellen as you can tell that the two have great on-screen chemistry. We can’t wait to see more scenes with them in the future! Plus, we can’t wait to see what’s next for Kyle Abbott. Watch this space.
