In a move that no one really saw coming, Alex decided it would be best to turn off Stephanie’s phone just so he could have an entire evening with her and without any outside interruptions. Little did he know at the time that the move would be a terrible mistake, as Stephanie lost the opportunity to say good-bye to her mother Kayla before she died. Alex and Stephanie ended up making love that night, and while the rest of Kayla’s family surrounded her by her bedside right before she took her last breath.

Of course, it didn’t take long at all for Days of Our Lives fans to weigh in on the storyline on social media with a lot of critics calling Alex a very selfish person. Come comments included, “Just when it looks like Alex might be maturing he reverts back to his immature self and in a fit of jealous pique turns off Stephanie’s phone thus not allowing her to find out Kayla’s situation and denying her the opportunity to be with her dying mother. Grow up, Alex, and stop being so selfish and stupid. Stephanie, I think you need to reassess your relationship with Alex: he does not deserve you and I am not sure he will ever really mature at this point.”
