Well, we can’t say that we are surprised here. British Royal News says that both Prince William and Prince Harry allegedly urged King Charles not to marry Camilla Parker Bowles. At least, that’s what the Duke of Sussex writes in his new book, Spare. Here’s what you need to know.
According to Harry’s book, Spare, which is coming out on January 10th, both he and William apparently didn’t want Camilla to be a part of their family because they were worried about all of the wicked stepmother stereotypes, to say the least.
According to Page Six, Harry writes in his book that at the end of the day, both he and his brother realized that their father was in love with Camilla and that at that point, there wasn’t much they could do. He said, “Despite Willy and me urging him not to, Pa was going ahead. We pumped his hand, wished him well. No hard feelings. We recognized that he was finally going to be with the woman he loved, the woman he’d always loved. Fate might’ve intended for him in the first place. Whatever bitterness or sorrow we felt over the closing of another loop in Mummy’s story, we understood that it was besides the point.”
In the book, he writes, “I remember wondering … if she would be cruel to me; if she would be like all the evil stepmothers in the stories.” He added: “Willy had been suspicious of the Other Woman for a long time, which confused and tormented him. When those suspicions were confirmed, he felt agonizing remorse for not having done or said anything before.”
One source close to the situation says that while Prince William has gotten closer to Camilla, it’s Harry that has never fully accepted her.
Now, how Buckingham Palace will respond to these claims remain to be seen but there were earlier reports suggesting that King Charles would be none too pleased with Harry is he chose to drag Camilla in his book. Watch this space.
