British Royal News says that Buckingham Palace is refusing to make any comments about all of the allegations that have so far been made in Prince Harry’s new book, Spare. In it, the Duke of Sussex alleges that he was violently assaulted by his brother Prince William, that both William and Kate Middleton approved of the Nazi uniform that he wore to a costume party in 2005 and that King Charles used to make fun of all the rumors suggesting that he wasn’t Harry’s father. Here’s what you need to know.
According to royal reporter Richard Palmer, he wrote on Twitter, “Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace aren’t responding to Prince Harry’s leaked claims from his memoir that William physically attacked his brother or that it was it was William and Kate’s idea for him to wear a Nazi uniform to an infamous fancy dress party.”
Palmer also added, “Similarly there is no comment from the palace on Harry’s description of their father pleading with them after an anguished meeting post Prince Philip’s funeral: ‘Please, boys, don’t make my final years a misery.’”
Of course, it didn’t take very long for both royal fans and critics alike to weigh in on the matter. Many of them wrote, “The moment the Palace starts commenting, they’ll never be able to stop. The Sussexes would like nothing more than an ongoing transatlantic slanging match to perpetuate their noxious brand,” along with, “Why would the Royal Family engage in a public tit for tat with a broken man with well documented history of mental health problems and drug abuse? Especially when that’s exactly what he wants for his own personal monetary gain.”
Another critic wrote, “The more Harry talks the worse he sounds. He’s whined himself into a corner. The RF taking the high road and continuing public charity work is exactly the right strategy. Harry and Meghan are ridiculous.”
