The Young and the Restless fans can’t help but wonder what’s going on with Daniel Goddard these days. The actor, who was best known for his role as Cane Ashby, has been keeping rather quiet. Here’s what you need to know about him.

Back in 2021, the actor hinted that he wanted to return to The Young and the Restless. He recalled that he pleaded with Josh Griffith, the show’s co-executive producer, and head writer, and former executive producer Tony Morina “that there was so much story” for Cane to play after Hilary Curtis (Mishael Morgan) died. Viewers may remember that Hilary was Cane’s seemingly harmless assistant at Chancellor Industries. But she changed after it was revealed that she’s in town to avenge her mother’s death and ruin the Winters family. Hilary drugged Cane and made him believe that something happened between them. Goddard said he begged the powers that be to explore the story especially when Hilary’s doppelganger came to town. 

That same year, the actor also revealed why he turned down the role of EJ on Days of Our Lives. There was talk about who will play the character when he returns to the canvas. The actor chimed in and said “Well, hello, Days of Our Lives” as Soaps.com and fans talked about the possible actors who may play the part. Some viewers assumed that he’s been recast but the truth of the matter was that the actor was simply saying that he’s interested in taking on the role. Goddard said that “it was in the works.”

“And then there was the situation where Days may not have been picked up, so what happened is it only would have been a four-week commitment,” the actor explained. 

The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Is Cane Returning?

In 2020, Daniel and Bryton James also founded an app called BILDBORD and it is aimed at connecting fans of The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital and Days of Our Lives. 

Daniel told Soap Opera Digest in an interview, “I wanted to find a way to bring the fans together as one group so they could share their individual love for the soap genre, the shows, the characters and the actors. So, Bryton and I decided to build an app that would unite soap fans from all over the world. That way they could find and be found by other fans who are into the same interests and passions besides just soaps. And from that the idea for BILDBORD was born, but it became much bigger than that.”
