Should we be a little concerned here? British Royal News suggests that something might be going on behind closed palace doors as both Prince William and Kate Middleton didn’t show up for the Windsor Christmas lunch this year. It’s an event that they turn up for every year, too. Here’s what you need to know.
According to Vanity Fair, William and Kate were both no-shows for the biggest family gathering to happen since the queen’s death. The publication writes, “Usually Prince William and Kate Middleton attend along with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, but this year they were absent, having reportedly traveled to Anmer Hall, their home on the Sandringham Estate, when the term ended at Lambrook, the school they attend in Berkshire.”
On of the reasons why William and Kate might be keeping a low profile is because they want all of the drama stemming from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix series, Harry and Meghan. The Duke of Sussex alleges that the royal family will do anything to protect his brother Prince William and of course, lie for him, but that they wouldn’t do the same for him and Meghan Markle. Harry says, “They were happy to lie to protect my brother, but they were never willing to tell the truth about us.”
If that weren’t enough, Harry and Meghan hint that the royal family were recruiting people to disseminate false stories about the couple. In other words, this has become a full-scale PR war between Harry, Meghan, and the rest of the royals.
During the first volume of the series, while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t make any personal jabs at the royals themselves, they did talk a lot about the supposed ‘invisible contract’ the royals have with the British press, some of the racism that Meghan Markle had endured while she was in the UK and also touched some on Britain’s colonist history.
