British Royal News says that Meghan Markle has recently detailed why she opened up about her suicidal thoughts. While at the Ripple of Hope Awards on Tuesday night, Meghan said there was a reason why she went public with her mental health challenges. Here’s what you need to know.
During the ceremony, Meghan said, “When you’ve been through anything that’s challenging, and everyone — especially in the past few years with lockdown and Covid, that spike in numbers of people having an experience they might not be voicing — we all need to, when we can, if we feel brave enough, to just speak honestly about your own experience,’ she says. She talks of being ashamed, but not in the way one might hope. ‘Look, I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially, because I know how much loss he has suffered, but I knew that if I didn’t say it, then I would do it. I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.”
She also added, “And if my experience can help someone else not feel the same way or to know that there’s hope then it’s worth every second of whatever comes with it.”
As many royal fans can recall, Harry and Meghan told Oprah that things were so bad behind the scenes at Buckingham Palace that they had no choice but to leave the royal family behind. Prince Harry told the world that his father King Charles at the time cut him off both financially and emotionally. Both he and Meghan also said that there were supposed “concerns” over the color of their unborn baby’s skin. If that weren’t enough, Meghan also admitted that she felt bullied by the British press and that no one at the palace would defend any of the claims that were made against her in the tabloids.
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter, although at this point it’s doubtful that anything will be said.
