General Hospital spoilers say that Port Charles would surely have looked different without someone like Bobbie Spencer around, right? Well, she must be doing something right as her portrayer Jacklyn Spencer is celebrating 45 years of Bobbie on the hit ABC soap. Can you believe it? Here’s what you need to know!
December 1st is a very important date for Jacklyn as it makes her 45th year on the daytime television soap. Jacklyn made her debut on General Hospital back in 1976. And boy, what a great run it has been so far. While Bobbie is now a supportive mentor for Carly these days, back in the day she was nothing but trouble!
Jacklyn told Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, “When Bobbie first came on, she was written as a taker. She had an agenda. Remember her pretending to be pregnant to get Laura to drive off the cliff so she could have Scotty to herself?!”
“This character’s come a long way,” Zeman mused. “People have told me over the years that when they think of Bobbie, they think of the heart. She’s a very loving person who’s extremely connected. She’s become a giver — a person that wants to contribute more than she wants to receive.”
Over the years, Jacklyn has also gotten four Daytime Emmy Award nominations in the Supporting Actress category and one in Lead. Congratulations to Jacklyn on her General Hospital anniversary as we hope to see much more of her on the canvas in the future, too. Seeing how Carly is in need of her more and more, we have a feeling that Bobbie will be popping up at the right place and at the right time, too.
One of the great things about this soap is that they sure do take care of their vets, right? Of course, General Hospital fans will have to tune in each and every day to find out what will happen next!
