Days of Our Lives spoilers say that if there are two people who have gotten themselves in a pickle, it’s most definitely Rafe Hernandez and Nicole Walker. Thankfully, Rafe’s portrayer Galen Gering recently broke down their complicated situation for fans in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. Here’s what he has to say.

Rafe says that he had a feeling Rafe and Nicole’s relationship would take the tumble that it did. He told the publication, “There’s always going to be drama in a relationship. Clearly, it wasn’t in the cards for these day. In the back of his mind, I think Rafe felt their relationship was doomed, to a certain degree, to begin with, because he cheated on Ava, and that’s really not his m.o. He felt like, ‘Of course, this ended up happening. You are paying the karmic price.’”

Then again, Rafe has always been a guy who has been unlucky in love. With each relationship he’s been in, they tend to end rather quickly. For Galen, he knows that this sucks for his character very much. He said, “I don’t know that it always ends quickly, but I will say that this relationship sure did. It was very awkward. I hope that he can find someone that he can hang out with for a minute. But in this genre if you’re happy, you don’t have a story. So it’s a ‘Be careful what you wish for kind of thing.’”

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: What’s Next For Rafe?

That said, Rafe did admit that the breakup scenes with Nicole were intense to play. He said, “They were very powerful. They were some of the best scenes I’ve done in a while, the scenes where Rafe was telling Nicole to go. He didn’t want to see it, but this is exactly the person she is.”
