Days of Our Lives actor John Aniston (Victor Kiriakis) has died at the age of 89. The daytime television star, who was honored earlier this year with a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award, died on November 11, according to his daughter, actress Jennifer Aniston. She posted a sweet tribute to him on social media. Here’s what you need to know.
Sharing several throwback photos of the two of them together, Jennifer captioned her Instagram post with, “Sweet papa… John Anthony Aniston . You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain. And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now. I’ll love you till the end of time.”
Jennifer also added, “Don’t forget to visit.”
John first started playing Victor Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives back in 1985. He appeared in the episode that aired last week but seeing how there usually are months between when the daytime drama films episodes and when they air, fans will get to see more of John Aniston on the daytime television show in the coming weeks ahead.
In addition to Days of Our Lives, John’s other roles have included Mad Men, The Paul Reiser Show, American Dreams, Gilmore Girls, My Big Fat Greek Life, Diagnosis Murder, Kojak, Love of Life and Search for Tomorrow.
Born Yannis Anastassakis in Chania, Greece in July 1933, John Aniston moved with his family to the US at the age of two, with his father anglicizing the family’s surname to Aniston.
So far Days of Our Lives has not made any comments about the matter but there’s no doubt that a tribute special will air in the coming weeks ahead.
