British Royal News suggests King Charles is doing what the royals do best and that’s keeping calm and carrying on. This, despite the fact that The Crown Season 5 is debuting this week. Here’s what you need to know.
While there is some concern that the fifth season of The Crown might do some significant damage to the royal family’s reputation (not that it isn’t damaged for many different and various reasons already), some people think that the Netflix series might just exacerbate those problems. But not Charles. He’s keeping calm and completely ignoring the fact that the series even exists to begin with.
One source close to the situation says, “Most public figures, faced with such a potentially harmful media onslaught, would be wargaming counter-attacks and rehearsing lines of defense. Charles, however, has little option according to friends and palace sources other than to ‘keep calm and carry on’ over the coming days and weeks, as he seeks to weather the inevitable media storm by following the late queen’s example of a dignified silence.
What’s more, it doesn’t seem like the royal family will be bringing out the big guns and suing anyone over at Netflix, even though it was previously reported that some were considering it. The tipster added, “While Charles and Camilla are likely to have been buoyed by the public support for them as expressed by Dench and others, don’t expect them to come out fighting on their own behalf. Lawsuits against Netflix over either The Crown or Harry and Meghan’s reality show (due to drop in the next few weeks, if industry rumors are to be believed) are considered vanishingly unlikely. Legal action against his son over his memoir also seems an impossible-to-imagine escalation—right now at least.”
