The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Sean Kanan Opens Up About Deacon Sharpe’s Evolution

The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers say that it’s possible for a man to change his ways, even if he’s the soap opera kind. While it might seem almost impossible to believe that Deacon Sharpe isn’t the same man that he was a few decades ago, his portrayer Sean Kanan says that it certainly is. In fact, the actor recently opened up about his character’s evolution. Here’s what you need to know.

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Sean said that the Deacon you see today is not the same Deacon you saw yesterday. He said, “I  think, as happens with most angry young men, a combination of age, wisdom and life experience hopefully manages to wring some of that out of him, and that certainly happened with Deacon. Being loved by Hope has done enormous things for Deacon’s character. I think, for the most part, Deacon has been a fairly honorable guy.”

He also added, “I don’t condone how he behaves with Brooke and Ridge’s marriage. That is not something I would do but I think he has learned to like himself a little more. He still feels like that guy who’s on the outside looking in. If I were Deacon, I would be thinking now more than ever, ‘What the hell am I going to do? I don’t want to be working at Il Giardino for the rest of my life. I want to make a move. How am I going to accomplish this?’ I think that is Deacon’s inner monologue. He’s around these fabulously wealthy people and does his best to hide the fact that it’s probably humiliating for him because he’s the guy who cleans the toilets when his daughter and her husband come into Il Giardino. But he has a strong why, which is, ‘I’m going to do this and stay out of jail and be a father to my daughter,’ and there is honor in that. God bless him.”

The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: What’s Next For Deacon?

Sean also added that fans seem to really love this new version of Deacon. He said, “It means they are responding to the humanity that the writers infuse, and I try to infuse, into this character. Deacon had a very difficult home life but managed to evolve and figure a lot of stuff out. I would love to see that explored more.”
