They don’t make couples like this one anymore. General Hospital star Maurice Benard, who is best known for his role as Sonny Corinthos on the hit ABC soap, recently shared a very sweet message for his wife, Paula. Here’s what he has to say!
Sharing a throwback photo of the two of them together, Maurice wrote, “What can I say about my wife on her birthday. When you find a Soulmate, Who happens to be a great mother, a great wife, and just an overall kind human being, and also just happened to fall from heaven!!! Consider yourself very lucky.”
Many of Maurice’s social media followers commented on the photo with, “You guys are like a fine wine. You get better and better each year. Much love to you,” along with, “You two are my favorite couple. Maurice, you better treat Paula well because she deserves all the best. Much love.”
Back in 2020, Paula opened up about being married to Maurice and the challenges they faced with his bipolar disorder for his mental health series, State of Mind. “Yeah, I didn’t sign up for it,” she cracked. “Maybe now’s the time to tell you.”
She also said, “It’s no different than living with anyone with any other problem… I mean, yes, it’s difficult, but you know… I don’t know. I don’t think twice about it. I just do whatever we have to do to manage it. When times are hard, then we dig deeper and figure out what we need to do. But to me, it’s almost a question that shouldn’t even be asked.”
Paula also added that there’s hope for other couples who are dealing with similar issues. “It may take a while, but eventually, if you do the right things, you get through it,” she said. “You’ll see that light at the end of the tunnel.”
