The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Matthew Atkinson Vows Thomas Has Turned a Corner, Too Good To Be True?

The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers tease that Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) is trying his darndest to make up for being a lousy dad. He relinquished custody of his young son Douglas Forrester (Django Ferri) after gaslighting the poor kid in order to win the woman of his dreams Hope Logan (Annika Noelle). The result was that “Mommy Hope” was allowed to raise Douglas and keep him from dastardly Thomas. That’s all about to change if Thomas has his way.

After making his intentions to regain custody of his son known, Hope practically had kittens. She has grown attached to the boy and still remembers why she was allowed the chance to raise him—Thomas went off the rails. She and Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) have been excellent role models and parental figures to Douglas, and she does not think she should have to give him up.

Atkinson talked to TV Insider about the current plot twist and we have his thoughts here. According to the handsome and talented actor, “I think it’s been a long time coming. Thomas spent quite a while going over the issues he has in the past and worked on becoming a better person. He picked the pieces of his life up and moved forward. He’s done a great job at that. He’s a changed man. I think the audience is excited to get his son back. Every tweet I’m tagged in has referenced Thomas getting his son back.”

B&B spoilers: Will Thomas Get His Son Back?

Atkinson was asked to what degree his character will fight to achieve his custody aim. He responded, “I think he’s got good ground to stand on. It doesn’t make sense for Thomas to give his son up to another family. Hope’s the mother, but that doesn’t mean that Hope and Liam are the [only] parents.”

He added, “A lot will depend on how much Hope fights back. Thomas feels that Douglas should live with him for a little while. As long as the environment that Thomas provides is healthy, which it is, I don’t think that this is that big of a deal. I’m not sure how much Hope will push back but if she’s influenced by her mother (Brooke, Katherine Kelly Lang) and Liam? That could amplify her reaction to the whole thing.”
