General Hospital comings and goings say a fan favorite is returning to Port Charles! That’s because actress Emma Samms has announced that she’s returning to the soap as her character, Holly. Here’s what you need to know.
The last time that fans got to see Emma on the show was back in 2020, when fans learned that she was indeed alive and not dead. Instead, she was being held hostage by a mysterious villain.
Speaking to Deadline in a new interview, Samms said, “I can’t believe that it’s been 40 years since I first appeared on General Hospital and that, once again, I get to play the wonderful character of Holly Sutton. No one is more interested in what’s happened to her since we saw her two years ago, being held captive by a mysterious villain, than me!”
General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini also said, “I am thrilled the wonderful Emma Samms will be returning to the canvas in October, so we can continue telling Holly’s story and the fans can finally see what happened after we learned she was alive and being held hostage.
Back in November, Emma opened up about her status on General Hospital. During the Dishing With Digest podcast, Emma said that she’s unable to return to the show as she herself is still recovering from her own COVID-19 battle. Things got so bad for her that she lost her voice, but luckily has since been able to recover it, but is still battling some symptoms from the virus. Emma said she wanted to be honest with her fans as she didn’t want anyone to think there was another reason why she was supposedly avoiding her General Hospital comeback. With that said, Emma added that she’s greatly moved over the fact that she’s been asked to return to General Hospital so many times since she first began her role as Holly back in 1985.
