The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Michael Mealor Admits That He And Susan Walters Are Very Similar

The Young and the Restless spoilers say that it looks like the apple didn’t fall far from the apple tree! Actor Michael Mealor says that even though his character Kyle Abbott initially wanted nothing to do with his mother Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), he now sees that the two of them certainly have a lot in common. That is, they have a lot in common offscreen! Here’s what you need to know.

While on The Talk, Michael opened up about his return to Genoa City and Kyle’s complicated family life right now. When asked about working with Susan Walters, Michael said, “It’s amazing. I mean, we’re two peas in a pod, you know? We’re like bandits getting away in the night, to the point where our first scenes together were super-emotional. We had never met before and we walk in on the day and we have to do these scenes where mother and son haven’t seen each other in twenty years. And we just want to hug each other because it’s so emotional but we’re like, no, we can’t. It wouldn’t be right for the character.”

When asked about his character becoming a father and Kyle fighting for custody rights to his son Harrison, Michael explained, “There are the soap opera checklists that you want. You want to swindle someone out of their liver. You want the divorce. You want the illegitimate child. So, I got one. I’m papa bear Kyle now that I’ve been gone for so long, so I’m about to protect this kid with everything that I have, ’cause this is my kid.”

That said, we have a feeling that there is plenty of drama ahead for Kyle and the rest of the Abbott family as well. At least for as long as Diane will be around, right? Of course, The Young and the Restless fans will have to tune in to find out what will happen next!
