The Young and the Restless star Camryn Grimes recently opened up about her storyline and how it’s made a difference for her fans. The actress, who is best known for her role as Tessa on the hit CBS, is getting ready to marry her long-time lover, Mariah Copeland (Cait Fairbanks). This will be a historic wedding for the show as it will be the first one for a same-sex couple in Genoa City. Here’s what she has to say.
Speaking to People in a new interview, Camryn made it no secret that she is absolutely proud to be part of such a historic moment. She also said that this storyline has touched plenty of fans out there, too. She said, “I’ve been so moved over the years about how many different stories I’ve heard — that a fan had a family member watch ‘Teriah’ and now they are able to explain their own relationship to them better, or our love helped them come out.It has been really beautiful and humbling because you really understand the weight of what you do. This is a really proud moment for the show, and I hope there will be some really juicy storylines to keep the connection going strong on screen.”
What’s more, Camryn said that Tessa and Mariah’s relationship has resonated with her in a big way, too. “I feel especially honored to be a part of this moment because I understand the importance of it. It’s like the best coffee you could ever have going into a scene because you know what this isn’t just a couple talking, it’s also representing on screen so many people who haven’t really had that opportunity to be themselves, and every time I come to work I am reminded of that,” she added.
Many The Young and the Restless fans also said that they can’t wait to see Mariah and Tessa’s big day next week. It’s going to be a great one, for sure!

So sorry to see Y&R go down this road of same sex relationships being acceptable. I have always admired the way the show has handled real problems , I.e. alcoholism, spouse abuse, etc. in the past and offered hope and solutions. Now the show is saying this is acceptable and it should be offering counseling and help rather than allowing it.
I am happy for this storyline making history, but Mariah and Tessa as a couple has got to be the most boring pairing ever. There isn't any spark between them, at one time I was enjoying their relationship but now it is tedious seeing them together. I am looking forward to a more exciting storyline for this pairing, because now I basically fast-forward when it comes to scenes between just the two of them (SNOOZE-FEST).
